P.E.

Our sporting teams have made successful starts to their seasons, most notably our Rugby, Netball squads & our Football teams who have competed in The English Schools FA Cup.

Our Competitive Sports Program at KS3 has been enhanced & remains extremely popular, targeting pupils with low self esteem & confidence within the subject. Pupils participated in a range of sports including work with outside agencies..

PE Department Vision

Our vision is to improve and increase the quality and quantity of high-quality PE for pupils, to show how PE can enhance pupils' attainment and achievement and to create pathways for them to continue to be active beyond school. Our curriculum gives pupils the opportunity to experience a range of team & individual sports & develops them as an all-round performer.

The curriculum aims to ensure that all pupils explore core & advanced skills in a wide range of team & individual sports with an enhanced understanding of the techniques, tactics & strategies. Pupils who opt for GCSE can apply their practical experiences to the theoretical content & discuss the benefits to the performer, examining both the body & mind. The curriculum is planned to develop pupils’ skills & knowledge over a 5 year period, & allows them to use a number of transferable skills from a range of sports & activities. Pupils are equipped with the knowledge & skills to analyse & improve their performance & that of their peers. They build their knowledge of sport beyond the classroom & form an understanding of the long term physical & mental benefits of exercise & a healthy lifestyle.
